Cast on 36 stitches
*Knit one row, Purl one row *until your piece is 5 inches long
Next row (after a purl row): *K4, K2 tog* across the row.
Purl one row.
*K3, K2 tog* across the row.
Purl one row.
*K2, K2 tog* across the row.
Purl one row.
*K1, K2 tog* across the row.
P2 tog across the row.

LARGE

Cast on 42 stitches
*Knit one row, Purl one row *until your piece is 6 inches long
Next row (after a purl row): *K4, K2 tog* .
Purl one row.
*K3, K2 tog* across the row.
Purl one row.
*K2, K2 tog* across the row.
Purl one row.
*K1, K2 tog* across the row.
P2 tog across the row.

FINISH FOR HAT

Leave a tail at least 12 inches long and cut your yarn. Thread your yarn through a yarn needle and thread the needle through the remaining stitches on your knitting needle. Thread it through again and sew up your seam. To sew your seam, hold your sides together flat. Make sure your rows line up so that at the edge of the hat both sides are even. You will see knots and then a line between them. Go in through the lines. Whip your stictches in and out always going in on the same side and out on the same side.
